Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Bhooth Bangla has been awarded a U/A 16+ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This classification allows children under 16 to watch the movie if accompanied by a parent or guardian. In order to receive this certification, the CBFC mandated several changes, all of which the producers have agreed to implement.
Among the key modifications required by the Censor Board were the alteration or removal of certain expletives and abusive language featured in the film. Additionally, a derogatory statement aimed at women was mandated to be revised into a more appropriate remark. Furthermore, the Board requested a disclaimer to accompany all scenes that involve religious themes or superstitions, along with the removal of specific scenes from the film.
Despite having received certification, reports indicate that the producers were instructed to excise a total of 63 scenes. The most noteworthy cut involved a sequence from the song “O Sundari,” which was reduced by 1 minute and 12 seconds. Another 27 seconds were trimmed from the song “O Re O Sanwariya.” As a result of these edits, the film’s overall runtime has been shortened by 10 minutes and 5 seconds, leading to a final length of 2 hours, 44 minutes, and 52 seconds.
Bhooth Bangla is set for theatrical release on April 17, 2026, with paid preview screenings beginning the night prior, April 16, at 9:00 PM. Directed by Priyadarshan, the horror-comedy features a cast that includes Akshay Kumar, Wamiqa Gabbi, Asrani, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Tabu.
