The New Zealand women’s team will be taking on Pakistan women in the final Group A match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Monday, October 14. This match holds significant importance as three teams are still in contention for a spot in the semifinals.

Australia has already secured their place in the semifinals after a narrow nine-run victory against India in their previous Group game in Sharjah. India’s fate now hinges on the outcome of the match between Pakistan and New Zealand.

The White Ferns and the Women in Green will square off at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai in what is the only match scheduled for the day. With Australia already through to the knockout stage and Sri Lanka out of contention, India, New Zealand, and Pakistan are vying for the remaining spot in the semis from Group A.

In their head-to-head record in WT20Is, New Zealand holds a commanding 9-2 lead over Pakistan. However, Pakistan secured two recent victories in a three-match series against the White Ferns on New Zealand soil.

Pakistan claimed a 2-1 series win over New Zealand last December, marking their first series victory outside Asia and Ireland. This remains their only series triumph against New Zealand in the T20 format.

Looking at the squad compositions for both teams:

  • Pakistan Women’s Squad includes Muneeba Ali, Sidra Amin, Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, and others.
  • New Zealand Women’s Squad features Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr, and others.

This upcoming clash between New Zealand and Pakistan is expected to be fiercely contested as both teams aim to secure a spot in the semifinals.
