The Bank Nifty emerged as the day’s standout performer, climbing 456.60 points or 0.78 per cent to 58,966.20, while broader indices also participated in the rally. The Nifty Midcap 100 advanced 0.72 per cent to 61,170.90, the Nifty Smallcap 100 rose 0.55 per cent to 18,353.25, and the Nifty Financial Services index gained 0.52 per cent to 27,633.10.

Market breadth remained relatively balanced with 2,065 stocks advancing against 2,050 declining on the BSE, where 4,352 stocks were traded. Notably, 154 stocks touched 52-week highs while 153 hit 52-week lows. Additionally, 205 stocks were locked in upper circuit and 213 in lower circuit.

Bajaj Auto led the Nifty gainers, surging 1.67 per cent to ₹8,990.50, followed by Tata Consumer Products which rose 1.57 per cent to ₹1,176, Max Healthcare gaining 1.55 per cent to ₹1,120.20, Shriram Finance up 1.55 per cent to ₹821.85, and Eternal advancing 1.51 per cent to ₹308.35.

On the downside, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles continued its decline from the morning session, falling 4.27 per cent to ₹374.50, making it the top Nifty loser. HDFC Life dropped 0.84 per cent to ₹767.20, UltraTech Cement declined 0.67 per cent to ₹11,794, Bharat Electronics fell 0.66 per cent to ₹424.05, and IndiGo slipped 0.63 per cent to ₹5,871.

The market opened on a positive note with the Sensex at 84,700.50 and the Nifty at 25,948.20, building on Friday’s gains. Trading activity remained robust across sectors, with the auto sector showing mixed performance despite Bajaj Auto’s strong showing.

Analysts remain focused on whether Bank Nifty can sustain levels above the 58,600 resistance, which was breached during the session. The index’s performance continues to be a key driver for broader market sentiment amid ongoing foreign institutional investor selling and domestic institutional investor buying.
