New Delhi: Bangladesh’s ascent in the Asia Cup 2025 was halted as India triumphed over them at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, September 24. The Indian team became the first to secure a spot in the final by maintaining an unbeaten streak with five wins from five matches.

India managed to bowl out Bangladesh for 127, despite a commendable effort from Saif Hasan, who scored 69 runs after receiving four reprieves. Kuldeep Yadav was the standout bowler for India, taking three wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs, with Varun Chakaravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah each claiming two wickets.

With this victory, India advanced to the finals and will now await their opponent for Sunday. Despite the defeat, Bangladesh remains in the running for a place in the championship match.

How can Bangladesh qualify for the Asia Cup final after losing to India?

Bangladesh still has a chance to qualify for the Asia Cup final, accumulating two points from two matches in the Super Four stage, positioning them third in the points table behind Pakistan, who also has two points but boasts a superior net run rate.

Sri Lanka is out of the final contention, leaving only Pakistan and Bangladesh competing for the second spot. Both teams are scheduled to face each other on Thursday in their final Super Four match. This match will serve as a virtual semifinal, where the winner will secure a place in the final, while the loser will be eliminated.

In the earlier match, India set a target of 168/6, bolstered by strong performances from Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya. Abhishek contributed a significant 75 runs from 37 balls, while Gill added 29 runs from 19 deliveries, and Hardik finished with 38 runs off 29 balls.
