On March 21, 2025, the Nifty 50 components saw varying performances with Bajaj Finance, BPCL, SBI Life, Larsen & Turbo, and NTPC leading the gainers, while IndusInd, Infosys, Trent, Bajaj Finserv, and Hindalco dipped.
The broader indices initially showed a declining trend but rallied later in the day. The Sensex jumped by 657.60 points or 0.86% to reach 77,005.66, while the Nifty 50 rose by 192.25 points or 0.83% to reach 23,382.90. The Nifty mid and small-cap IT and telecom stocks soared, while the Nifty consumer durables and metal indices fell.
Bajaj Finance was the top gainer with a 3.07% increase, trading at ₹8,946.25, reaching a 52-week high of ₹9,089. Bharat Petroleum followed with a 2.62% gain, trading at ₹279.26, and SBI Life gained 2.57%, reaching ₹1,536.85.
Larsen & Turbo shares rose by 2.46% to reach ₹3,433.55 on the NSE, while NTPC shares were up by 2.41% to ₹350. On the flip side, IndusInd fell by 1.35% to ₹674.85, Infosys declined by 1.08% to ₹1,598.15, and Trent shares dipped by 0.84% to ₹5,177.65. Bajaj Finserv and Hindalco dropped by 0.76% and 0.67%, respectively.
Of all the 2,828 stocks traded on the NSE, 2,149 advanced and 605 declined. Stocks like IGIL, KPI Green, Senco Gold, and Zaggle hit upper circuits. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance, Manappuram Finance, Avanti Feeds, and Kotak Mahindra hit 52-week highs.
On the BSE, Tejas Networks led the gainers with a 15.25% increase to ₹818.30. Jupiter Wagons jumped by 11.87%, and HCC surged by 11.75%.
The overall market performance showed a mixed trend, with some stocks reaching new highs and others experiencing declines.
