The Government of Andhra Pradesh aims to finish the Polavaram project by October 2026, as stated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

After inspecting the project site on Monday, Naidu expressed that once completed, the Polavaram project would serve as a crucial resource for the state, enabling an additional 720,000 acres to be cultivated, supplying drinking water to 2.8 million people, and facilitating the generation of 960 MW of power. Furthermore, it would address the water requirements of industries in Visakhapatnam and benefit local residents as well.

Naidu emphasized that the Polavaram project could significantly transform the region, particularly if river interlinking occurs post-completion. He suggested that the connection between the Krishna River and the Nagarjuna Sagar Canal should be considered in future plans. He pointed out that bringing Godavari water to Visakhapatnam could also provide access to other regions of the state, making the Polavaram project advantageous for all of Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister stated that the Polavaram project and the new capital at Amaravati are integral to the state’s development, and the NDA Government is dedicated to completing both initiatives within the next three years.
