Dubai: Indian opener Abhishek Sharma showcased an impressive performance against the Pakistan cricket team during their Super Fours clash, which escalated into a heated exchange. After his team secured a six-wicket victory, Sharma commented on the confrontational atmosphere, saying, “They were coming out to us without any reason; I did not like it at all.”
Following the match, Sharma took to social media to assert, “You talk, we win,” reflecting on the intense interactions he had with Pakistani bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf. During the game, after hitting Afridi for a six on the first ball, Sharma was seen expressing his emotions audibly, emphasizing his determination to respond to the opposition’s comments through his batting.
After having gotten starts in the previous matches but not converting them into significant scores, Sharma made a notable impact by scoring a rapid fifty off just 24 balls. His aggressive approach was complemented by his partner Shubman Gill, and together they constructed a formidable partnership that put immense pressure on the Pakistani bowlers.
The batting duo’s performance led to growing frustration among the Pakistani bowlers, particularly Rauf, who engaged in exchanges with both Gill and Sharma before match officials intervened. Despite a couple of quick wickets that brought Pakistan back into contention, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya remained composed, guiding India to victory.
With this win, India opened their account in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup, while Pakistan now faces Sri Lanka in a must-win scenario in their upcoming match.
