At 12 noon, Sensex declined 113.24 pts or 0.15% to 74,668.52. Nifty 50 was down 60.55 pts or 0.26% to 23,337.55.

The Sensex had closed the previous session at 74,781.76, opening today at 75,369.63, while the Nifty’s previous close was 23,398.10, with an opening at 23,576.15.

IT stocks led the rebound, with all five top Nifty gainers drawn from the sector. HCL Technologies surged 5.21 per cent to ₹1,268.90 on the highest percentage gain of the session, while Infosys climbed 4.82 per cent to ₹1,087.70 on volumes of over 15 lakh shares valued at ₹16,499.52 lakhs.

On the losing side, Kotak Mahindra Bank fell 1.15 per cent to ₹414.20, BEL declined 1.08 per cent to ₹400.00, Grasim slipped 0.97 per cent to ₹3,250.00, Titan dropped 0.96 per cent to ₹4,961.50, and Hindalco lost 0.92 per cent to ₹972.50.

The recovery came despite a weak global backdrop. Wall Street closed lower overnight, with the Dow Jones shedding 0.29 per cent, the S&P 500 falling 0.48 per cent, and the Nasdaq dropping 0.56 per cent.

Brent crude remains a primary concern, trading near $107 a barrel following Houthi attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure and clashes involving U.S. naval vessels and Iranian tankers in the region.

The Indian rupee fell 33 paise in the previous session to close at 94.82, hurt by aggressive dollar buying and elevated oil prices. As a net oil importer, India faces direct pressure on its import bill and inflation outlook from elevated energy costs.
