NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of India’s relationship with Russia during a meeting with his counterpart Sergey Lavrov. He noted that political cooperation between the two nations is increasingly valuable amid a turbulent global landscape.
Jaishankar highlighted that the current international complexities warrant open dialogues, especially between trusted partners. Ahead of the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting, both ministers reviewed cooperation in various areas. According to Jaishankar, India and Russia stand to gain from enhanced de-risking and diversification in their partnership.
In a post on X, Jaishankar referred to the conversation as “productive,” stating, “Our discussion addressed several elements of the India-Russia Special & Privileged Strategic Partnership, including trade and investment, energy and connectivity, science and technology, as well as the facilitation of skill and talent mobility.”
