BJP’s Khushbu Sundar Supports TVK Leader Vijay as Strong Candidate for Chief Minister

Khushbu Sundar, the vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Tamil Nadu state unit, has voiced her support for TVK chief Vijay in his bid for the chief ministerial position. This comes as Vijay faces challenges in forming a government after falling short of a majority by five MLAs. “As a citizen of Tamil Nadu, when people have chosen their CM, he should lead,” Sundar stated in a post on X.

The BJP secured only one seat in Tamil Nadu, collaborating with the AIADMK. Meanwhile, Congress has accused the BJP-led central government of deliberately delaying the invitation for Vijay to form the government, labeling it an “undemocratic” maneuver aimed at undermining the public mandate.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has reached out to Vijay twice in recent days, requesting letters of support from allied MLAs and other partners to establish a working majority before formally inviting him to form the government.

Neither the DMK nor the AIADMK achieved a majority, resulting in a hung assembly. In this context, smaller parties such as the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Pattali Makkal Katchi, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian Union Muslim League, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, and Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam are emerging as potential kingmakers in the ongoing government formation process.
