Virat Kohli Becomes First Player to Reach 9,000 Runs in IPL
New Delhi: Virat Kohli, the iconic player of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has made history by becoming the first-ever cricketer to score 9,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli achieved this remarkable milestone during a match against the Delhi Capitals on April 27 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Kohli entered the match needing just 11 runs to reach the landmark and accomplished the feat with relative ease in the second innings after the Capitals were dismissed for 75 runs in the first innings. With his team in a commanding position, Kohli made his contributions more emphatic with two sixes, leading RCB to victory by nine wickets, with 81 balls remaining.
The milestone was reached in the sixth over when Kohli took a single off Axar Patel, followed by two sixes from T Natarajan. The significant achievement was met with cheers from fans as he drove a ball to long-off to reach the 9,000-run mark. Kohli is now recognized as the leading run-scorer in the tournament’s history.
