Kolkata: Actress and former Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Nusrat Jahan appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday in connection with a case involving the alleged fraud of investors in a housing scheme. Jahan was questioned for approximately eight hours.
When asked why she had been summoned as she left the ED office with her husband, Yash Dasgupta, she replied, “You should find out.” The investigation pertains to allegations against a company that reportedly defrauded over 400 senior citizens of approximately Rs 24 crore between 2014 and 2015. The company had promised to deliver 1,000 sq ft flats to the investors but failed to provide the properties or reimburse their funds.
Nusrat Jahan previously claimed that she had resigned from the company in question. In 2023, the ED had also interrogated her regarding the case.
Additionally, in a separate alleged civic recruitment scam, the ED has summoned state ministers Sujit Bose and Rathin Ghosh to appear for questioning on Friday. Both ministers are contesting in the upcoming assembly elections on April 29, with Bose running from Bidhannagar and Ghosh from Madhyamgram. Earlier summonses from the ED went unanswered by the ministers.
