An incident involving an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft on the Pune runway has temporarily disrupted operations at Pune Airport on Friday. The IAF has confirmed that the aircrew is safe and that there has been no damage to civilian property.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the IAF stated, “Pune runway is temporarily unavailable due to an incident involving an IAF aircraft. The aircrew are safe, and there is no damage to civil property. Efforts are under way to operationalise the runway and resume normal operations at the earliest.”
Specific details regarding the incident have not been disclosed, but standard safety protocols were implemented to ensure the safety of personnel and infrastructure. Airport authorities are working closely with the IAF to restore operations on the runway as swiftly as possible.
Pune Airport serves both civil and military operations and is a crucial aviation hub in Maharashtra. Disruptions to runway availability can significantly impact numerous arrivals and departures, particularly during peak travel hours.
