De Buchi, who has traveled alone to over 20 countries, discusses her commitment to abstaining from sex until marriage. “I don’t like to make a big deal out of waiting till marriage,” she states, highlighting that it’s common in her social circle. One friend of hers organizes an event called Hot, Holy, Healed for Christian women, where De Buchi sells her jewelry brand that donates 10% of sales to anti-trafficking organizations.
De Buchi believes that the current sexualized culture misrepresents true freedom. “There’s such a sexualized culture and perversion more than ever,” she remarks, arguing that it may lead to less true freedom, not more. Despite her commitment, she admits she did not expect to wait this long for sex and had assumed she would marry in her early twenties.
She met her boyfriend on Hinge a year and a half ago and was candid about her abstinence from the start. The couple does not share overnight stays, as De Buchi expresses a desire not to “play house” before marriage. “I think that’s something you should look forward to,” she explains.
De Buchi is also launching a podcast titled The Gypsy Virgin, aimed at exploring the practical realities of preparing for sex after waiting for a long time. She engages with her sexuality in various ways, including reading about sex, owning lingerie, and dancing. “I think for a long time I probably did suppress that, because it’s probably easier. But I want to be connected to myself,” she notes.
Importantly, De Buchi emphasizes that she is not merely waiting for a husband. She runs a business, has a mission, and is part of a community. “Someone shouldn’t complete you,” she asserts. “They should add to your life.”
