Sunrisers Hyderabad Claims Victory Against Rajasthan Royals
New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a standout performance against Rajasthan Royals during their encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 13. Batting first, Hyderabad amassed a total of 216 runs in their innings.
In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad successfully defended their target, restricting Rajasthan to a total of 159 runs. This achievement was largely credited to the exceptional bowling of debutants Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, who collectively took four wickets and played a crucial role in handing the Royals their first defeat of the season.
Praful Hinge drew attention during the opening over, while Sakib Hussain also made a significant impact. Bowling four overs, Hussain conceded 24 runs and captured four wickets, showcasing his talent and contributing to the Royals’ loss.
Notably, the 21-year-old from Bihar became the seventh player in IPL history to achieve four or more wickets on his debut. Hinge’s impressive performance has been recognized by IPL scouts, leading to his acquisition by SRH for ₹30 lakh in the IPL 2026 auction.
Hussain began his T20 career for Bihar during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in the 2022-23 season at 17 years old, where he recorded figures of 4/20 in his second match. Additionally, he claimed his first five-wicket haul in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy, achieving six wickets for just 41 runs against Arunachal Pradesh.
Following the match, Sakib Hussain reflected on his debut performance, expressing that it is every player’s dream to make an entrance in such a fashion. “Thank you so much. Every player hopes for a debut like this, so it feels really good. I’m very happy,” Hussain remarked in the post-match presentation. He also noted that the bowling coach, Varun, informed him the day before the match about his inclusion in the playing XI.
