Bangladesh Receives Perks as ICC Alleviates India-Pakistan Tensions

New Delhi:

The ICC (International Cricket Council) has come forward and issued a new set of directives amid the ongoing drama between India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh during the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. It is worth noting that Bangladesh was officially removed from the T20 World Cup after the side refused to travel to India for the tournament, citing security concerns.

However, after lengthy discussions, the ICC has announced that there will be no sanctions or penalties put upon the BCB, and the country will also be hosting a major ICC event between 2028 and 2031.

After thorough discussions, the ICC has come forward and have been lenient towards the BCB after earlier removing them from the World Cup. “It is acknowledged that BCB retains the right to approach the Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC), should it choose to do so. This right exists under current ICC regulations and remains intact. The ICC’s approach is guided by its principles of neutrality and fairness and reflects the shared objective of facilitative support rather than punishment,” the ICC said in a statement.

Furthermore, the governing body also revealed that, keeping in mind the long history that Bangladesh shares with cricket and the board’s trust in Bangladesh’s capability, the country will be hosting a major ICC event prior to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2031.

Mohsin Naqvi issued a statement on India-Pakistan situation

Furthermore, with the ongoing controversy, Mohsin Naqvi came forward and revealed that a final decision will be taken on Pakistan’s boycott drama with the Indian team and the T20 World Cup 2026. It is worth noting that standing in solidarity with Bangladesh, the Pakistan government refused to let their side take the field against India on February 15 in Colombo.

“We have had discussions with them. It would not be right for me to make any comments right now. Once we get their response, we will decide. We will go back to the PM for advice once the ICC replies. An announcement will come tomorrow or day after tomorrow,” Naqvi said according to PTI.
