Skoda is preparing to launch a facelifted version of its Kushaq SUV in India. Ahead of the official unveiling, the automaker has shared a teaser video showcasing some design updates. This marks the first facelift for the Kushaq, which initially debuted in India in 2021.
Skoda Kushaq Facelift: Exterior Design Changes
According to the teaser video, the updated Kushaq will feature refreshed LED daytime running lights (DRLs) connected by segmented lighting elements. Additionally, the SUV will sport a redesigned front grille and bumper, enhanced by angular silver trim for a more contemporary appearance.
At the rear, the facelifted Kushaq will showcase an illuminated ‘SKODA’ wordmark with individual lighting elements similar to those at the front, elevating its premium aesthetics.
Skoda Kushaq Facelift: Interior and Features Anticipated
While Skoda has not revealed interior details for the upcoming Kushaq facelift, reports indicate the SUV will incorporate a range of new features to stay competitive in its segment.
Spy photographs suggest that higher variants may include a panoramic sunroof. The facelifted model is also expected to introduce a segment-first rear seat massage function, upgraded graphics for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system, as well as rear disc brakes for the 1.5 TSI variants.
Level 2 ADAS Confirmed for MQB-A0-IN Models
Skoda has confirmed that all vehicles based on the MQB-A0-IN platform will be equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) as part of their respective facelifts. As such, the Kushaq facelift is anticipated to feature Level 2 ADAS technology.
Engine and Transmission Options
The facelifted Skoda Kushaq is expected to retain its existing engine lineup, which includes a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque, as well as a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque.
According to an Autocar report, the current transmission options are likely to remain unchanged at launch. The 1.0-litre engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, while the 1.5-litre engine will continue to be paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
However, Skoda is expected to introduce a new localized 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre engine in the future. This unit could eventually replace the existing 6-speed automatic transmission.
