At least 22 people, including civilians, have been killed since clashes broke out between Syrian government and Kurdish fighters in Syria’s Aleppo. More than 100,000 civilians have fled their homes in Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud since fighting broke out between the Syrian military and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
According to Al Jazeera, a ceasefire, brokered by the United States, announced by Syria’s Defence Ministry in the vicinity of the Ashrafieh, Sheikh Maqsoud and Bani Zeid neighbourhoods in Aleppo has been unofficially extended.
SDF fighters, along with their light personal weapons, will be transferred to the east of the Euphrates River, according to an announcement by Syria’s Defence Ministry.
Al Jazeera also reports that about 50 buses are being arranged to be sent and take SDF fighters out from the Aleppo neighbourhoods where the fighting has been taking place on Friday.
In March 2025, SDF, which controls much of Syria’s north-east, signed a deal to integrate all military and civilian institutions into the Syrian state. Since then both sides accusing each other of trying to derail the agreement.
