Tata Motors is poised to update its popular micro-SUV, the Punch, with a facelift scheduled for 2026. Recent sightings of a test mule in near-production forms have unveiled significant changes. Since its launch in 2021, the Punch has seen minor feature enhancements, but its core design has largely remained intact—until now.
Exterior Design: Embracing the New Tata Identity
Spy photographs indicate that the updated Punch will adopt design elements seen in Tata’s more recent SUV models, including the Nexon and the Punch EV.
- Front Design: The new model will showcase a redesigned bumper, featuring a fresh slatted grille alongside two pronounced horizontal air intakes.
- Lighting: Updates will include sleeker LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and vertically aligned headlamps, reminiscent of the sharper look found in the Punch EV.
- Side and Rear: The facelifted version is expected to include new alloy wheel designs while preserving its recognizable thick body cladding, enhancing its rugged “raw” appeal.
Interior and Technological Enhancements
The interior is set to undergo a significant upgrade aimed at enhancing the premium feel. Key features include:
- Digital Dashboard: The cabin will feature a revamped two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, complemented by a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a matching 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
- Increased Comfort: Notable additions include ventilated front seats, a redesigned dashboard, and a reconfigured center console.
- Safety Technologies: The facelift is anticipated to introduce Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, and blind-spot monitoring, positioning it as one of the most technologically advanced vehicles in its segment.
Powertrain and Launch Timeline
Powering the 2026 Punch will likely be familiar engine options:
- 1.2L Revotron Petrol Engine: This will be available with both a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).
- i-CNG Technology: The bi-fuel version will continue utilizing Tata’s innovative twin-cylinder setup, which conserves boot space.
The refreshed Tata Punch is expected to hit the market in the first half of 2026.
