New Delhi: The Indian cricket team delivered a commendable performance against South Africa in the fifth and final T20 International of their series, held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue successfully defended a target of 231 runs, securing a victory by 30 runs.
This win in the fifth T20I not only clinched the series for India but also marked a significant achievement, as it was their ninth consecutive bilateral series win at home. With this victory, India surpassed Australia, who previously held the record with eight home series wins. Notably, India occupies the third position as well, having achieved seven consecutive home series victories.
Following the match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav addressed the media, reflecting on the team’s performance. He emphasized that their play style was consistent with their objectives and expressed satisfaction with the team’s competitive spirit. “The brand of cricket we wanted to play was the same, and the result is in front of us. This [intent-driven effort] was missing, and I’m glad we were able to replicate it. We were challenged, but this game is about how you respond. It was a good challenging series, and we did what we could. The only thing is we couldn’t find Surya the batter; I think he’s missing somewhere. But he’ll come back strong. As a leader, I am very pleased with how the series went,” Suryakumar Yadav stated during the post-match presentation ceremony.
