The mortal remains of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who tragically lost his life in a Tejas aircraft crash during the Dubai Air Show, were brought to the Air Force Station, Sulur, near Coimbatore, on Sunday morning.

Wing Commander Syal was attached to the Indian Air Force’s No. 45 Squadron (Flying Daggers) based at Sulur, one of the two squadrons operating the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) HAL Tejas.

After a ceremonial homage at the station, his mortal remains were flown to Himachal Pradesh, his home state, in an IAF aircraft for the last rites.

The Indian Air Force confirmed his demise after the Tejas aircraft crashed and burst into flames at the Dubai Air Show 2025 on Friday.

On Saturday, India’s Ambassador to the UAE, Deepak Mittal, and Consul General Satish Sivan paid their respects to the fallen IAF officer.

Wing Commander Syal, a native of Nagrota Bagwan in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, is survived by his wife, who is also an officer in the IAF, their six-year-old daughter, and his parents. As news of the tragedy reached his village, relatives, neighbours and residents began gathering at his ancestral home, grieving the loss with profound shock and sorrow.
