The government has appointed Sandip Pradhan, currently Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Pune, as a whole-time Member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for a period of three years.
Currently, there are two whole time Members of SEBI — Amarjeet Singh and Kamlesh Chandra Varshney.
In a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, the government said: “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) (d) and sub-section (4) of section 4 of the SEBI Act, 1992, read with rule 3 of the SEBI (Terms and Conditions of Service of Chairman and Members) Rules, 1992, the Central Government hereby appoints Sandip Pradhan, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Pune as Whole-Time Member of SEBI, for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
Pradhan, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 1990 batch, earlier held the post of Director General of Sports Authority of India from 2019 to 2024.
