Sensex climbed 396.31 points or 0.47 per cent to 85,069.33 (trading at day’s high) at 12.33 pm after opening at 84,643.78 against the previous close of 84,673.02. Nifty 50 climbed 114.05 points or 0.44 per cent to 26,024.10.

The midcap index rose by 0.27 per cent at the time of writing, while the smallcap index dipped 0.23 per cent.

Sectoral divergences are evident: while technology stocks are seeing inflows as part of an anti-AI trade, cyclical and commodity-heavy sectors are lagging. Nifty IT and telecom stocks soared 2-3 per cent, while Nifty media, healthcare, oil & gas, chemicals and realty stocks traded with marginal losses.

Top gainers & losers intraday

Shares of HCL Tech, Max Health, Infosys, Wipro and Tata Consultancy Services led the gainers of Nifty 50, while TMPV, Maruti, NTPC, Adani Ports and Coal India traded as major laggards.

Infosys shares lifted the IT index sentiment after the second largest software exporter announced its ₹18,000 crore share buy-back, starting November 20, 2025.

A total of 3,065 stocks were traded on the National Stock Exchange at the time of writing, of which 1,367 stocks advanced, 1,605 stocks declined and 93 stocks remained unchanged. Nearly 50 stocks (including Federal Bank, Hero Motocorp, Bharat Forge and Titan) touched a 52-week high, and 121 stocks fell to a 52-week low. Additionally, 55 stocks hit the upper circuit, whereas 46 stocks were locked in the lower circuit.

Midcap & smallcap movers

Under the midcap segment, Persistent Systems, Sona BLW Precision, Policy Bazaar, Coforge, 360 ONE WAM and Mphasis soared 2-4 per cent, while Waaree Energies, Biocon, Ashok Leyland, Supreme Industries and IGL depreciated 1-4 per cent.

Smallcap stocks Aditya Birla Real Estate, FSL, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Natco Pharma, Cyient and Zensar Tech gained 2-3 per cent. HBL Engineering and KEC International dragged 6-7 per cent, while Gland Pharma, Cholamandalam Holdings, Five Star, Laurus Labs and Afcons also declined nearly 2 per cent.

On the BSE, Avanti Feeds, Gabriel, LTTS, Aurionpro Solutions and JP Power zoomed 6-10 per cent, while HBL Engineering, KEC, Inox India and Samhi Hotels depreciated 4-7 per cent.
