Doha: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member squad for India A ahead of the Rising Stars Asia Cup, which is set to commence on November 14 in Doha. Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma, who recently returned to the national team during the T20I series against Australia and led Vidarbha to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarter-finals last year, has been appointed captain. Naman Dhir, an all-rounder from Punjab, will serve as vice-captain.
The selected players include young talents who have excelled in the domestic T20 circuit and the Indian Premier League (IPL). Notable selections are Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Ramandeep Singh, Ashutosh Sharma, and Yudhvir Charak. Suryavanshi, just 14 years old, made headlines by scoring a 35-ball century in his debut IPL match for the Rajasthan Royals. He has been in exceptional form for the U19 team, having recently tallied a century in a youth Test in Australia and scored 70 runs in a youth ODI.
