The All-India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), the largest trade union in the banking sector, is set to hold important two-day meetings starting Wednesday in Guwahati.

These high-level discussions will gather prominent banking officer union leaders to assess the future direction of the organization and address key issues affecting the lives and livelihoods of its extensive membership, the AIBOC stated.

AIBOC represents approximately 350,000 officers from nationalized banks, older private sector banks, and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs).

The gatherings will begin with the 104th Executive Committee (EC) meeting on October 29, continuing into the following day. In line with AIBOC’s bylaws, the meeting will review standard organizational matters, including the Statement of Accounts and recent developments within the organization.

The EC will also receive updates on discussions with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and the Central Labour Commission (CLC) that have occurred in the interim.

Following the EC, a significant 2nd Working Committee Meeting will take place on Thursday. This meeting will include the Presidents of various state committees, alongside all EC members and state secretaries. The intention of this assembly is to develop a comprehensive plan for organizational activities and outline the immediate future direction for AIBOC.

A central theme of these two days will be upcoming protests concerning two critical issues: the demand for a five-day workweek and the resolution of outstanding matters from the 8th Joint Note.

“As the leading voice for officers recognized under the Trade Unions Act of 1926, AIBOC remains dedicated to protecting the service conditions and career advancement of banking officers,” the statement emphasized.
