New Delhi: India’s final league match of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 against Bangladesh was marred by rain on Sunday, October 29, ultimately leading to no result at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.

Having already secured a spot in the semifinals, India fielded a largely experimental lineup, indicating a strategic approach to rest key players ahead of their upcoming semifinal against Australia. Notably, Richa Ghosh, Kranti Gaud, and Sneh Rana were rested, allowing debutant Uma Chetry, Amanjot Kaur, and Radha Yadav to take their places. However, the Indian team was unable to gain adequate match time.

Only 27 overs were playable in total after India elected to bowl first. Bangladesh managed to score 119 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in a match heavily influenced by weather interruptions. Consequently, India’s revised target was set at 126 runs in 27 overs. Following the injury of Pratika Rawal in the first innings, Amanjot Kaur stepped in to open the batting alongside Smriti Mandhana.

Pratika’s Injury Concerns for India Ahead of Semifinals

Rawal sustained a significant injury while attempting to field a boundary, causing her to twist her ankle and hurt her knee. She left the field in evident pain with assistance from substitutes and the support staff. This incident raises concerns as India prepares for a critical semifinal against Australia on Thursday, October 30. Her performance this year has been noteworthy, underscoring her importance to the team. In a social media update, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reported, “Team India all-rounder Pratika Rawal sustained an injury to her knee and ankle while fielding in the 1st innings against Bangladesh. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring her progress.”

India’s Chase Denied by Weather

With Rawal sidelined, Mandhana found a new partner in Amanjot at the crease. However, inclement weather limited the match action, allowing only 8.4 overs in India’s chase, during which they posted 57 runs without loss. In this brief window, Mandhana showcased her attacking skill, scoring an unbeaten 34 runs off 27 balls, including six fours, while Amanjot contributed 15 runs from 25 balls, hitting two fours.
