Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that its Minerals & Metals business vertical has secured several significant orders within India.

The company has received a contract from Hindalco to construct a 180,000 tonnes per annum aluminium smelter and Gas Treatment Centre in Odisha as part of a greenfield project. The scope of work includes civil and structural works, as well as supply and installation for the smelter, and complete engineering, procurement, construction, and installation for the GTC.

Additionally, L&T has won an order from Tata Steel’s facility in Jamshedpur for a 1 million tonnes per annum Coke Oven Battery 6 A/B, which involves engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, and plant installation.

The company’s Product Business Unit has also landed multiple orders for mining and material handling equipment—such as stacker reclaimers, wagon tipplers, crushers, and surface miners—from various clients across India.

T Kumaresan, Senior Vice President and Head of Minerals & Metals at L&T, stated that these achievements in the aluminium and steel sectors highlight the company’s engineering excellence and execution capabilities. He emphasized that such orders reinforce L&T’s role in advancing India’s industrial infrastructure.

L&T has maintained a partnership with Hindalco for over 30 years, assisting in expansion initiatives across alumina, aluminium, and copper facilities. According to L&T’s classification, large orders are defined as those valued between ₹2,500 crore and ₹5,000 crore.

As of 11:55 am today, L&T shares were trading at ₹3,927.20, reflecting an increase of ₹8.50, or 0.22%, on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
