Congress Questions Kerala Government on Engineer’s Suicide and RSS Links in FIR

The Congress party has criticized both the Union and Kerala governments regarding the First Information Report (FIR) linked to the alleged suicide of 26-year-old Anandu Aji, a software professional from Kottayam. Aji was found dead in a hotel room in Thampanoor, Thiruvananthapuram, on October 9. His suicide note purportedly accused members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of sexual abuse and mental torture.

Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, Pawan Khera, head of the Congress media and publicity department, highlighted that Aji alleged in a social media post prior to his death that he was subjected to sexual abuse since the age of four at RSS camps. Khera expressed concern that the FIR does not mention the RSS and questioned the integrity of the investigation. He stated, “If the name of RSS does not even figure in the FIR, can one expect a fair probe?” He accused the system of being “afraid” of the RSS and called for the organization to be named in the FIR.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra echoed these sentiments in a social media post, demanding a full investigation into the allegations Aji made against the RSS. She emphasized that “the sexual abuse of boys is a scourge as widespread as that of girls” and urged for the silence surrounding such allegations to be broken.

The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and the Youth Congress have already filed complaints citing the alleged abuse by RSS members, although the police have yet to register any cases related to these complaints.

In his suicide note, Aji stated that he was committing suicide not due to personal relationships or debts but because of anxiety and depression exacerbated by his circumstances. He described his experiences of abuse, naming specific incidents from childhood and later allegations against RSS members. Aji noted that he suffered lifelong trauma and highlighted the psychological impact of his experiences, including his struggle with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), which he attributed to the abuse he faced.

He urged others to stay away from RSS members, declaring, “That’s how toxic RSS members are. They’re the real abusers.” Aji recounted not only sexual but also physical abuse at RSS camps, advising against forming close relationships with those affiliated with the organization.

K.B. Sreekumar from the RSS’s South Kerala leadership responded by calling for an impartial investigation into Aji’s death and the content of his suicide note, which he termed “dubious and baseless.”

The controversy surrounding Aji’s death continues as further developments unfold, prompting calls for accountability and justice from opposition parties.
