Two minor students, aged 13 and 16, have been detained in connection with the brutal murder of a mosque imam’s wife and their two daughters in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh. Superintendent of Police (SP) Suraj Rai reported that the killings were allegedly motivated by revenge after the imam disciplined the students.
“Both minors were students of the imam. They have confessed to committing the crime as retaliation for being reprimanded,” SP Rai stated.
The triple homicide occurred on Saturday at the imam’s home within the mosque complex, shocking the local community. The victims, Israna (30), the wife of Mohd Ibrahim, the imam of the main mosque in Gangnauli village, and their daughters Sofia (5) and Sumaiya (2), were discovered in their residence with fatal injuries.
Ibrahim was not present during the incident. The bloodied bodies were located on a cot inside the village’s Badi Masjid (grand mosque) complex, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Doghat police station.
Authorities have recovered the murder weapon and are conducting further forensic examinations. “Both accused are minors. Legal action is being taken under the Juvenile Justice Act,” SP Rai added.
This incident has raised significant concern within the community and highlights issues related to youth behavior and violence.
