NEW DELHI: On Sunday, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) officially announced its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Under this agreement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) [JDU] will each contest 101 seats. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has been allocated 29 seats, while both the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLM) and the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) will contest six seats each.

Union Education Minister and BJP MP shared this news via X, stating, “We, along with NDA allies, have completed seat-sharing in a cordial atmosphere. Workers and leaders of all NDA parties have welcomed it with joy.”

The announcement followed a meeting at the BJP headquarters that included senior leaders such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, among others. Before departing Patna for Delhi, HAM Chief Jitan Ram Manjhi emphasized his loyalty to the NDA, asserting he would adhere to the BJP leadership’s decisions regarding seat allocation.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who participated in the BJP’s core group meeting in Delhi on Saturday, remarked, “Nobody has any kind of resentment. Everyone has expressed their views; all are happy.”

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP contested 110 seats, while the JDU contested 115, resulting in the BJP winning 74 seats and the JDU securing 43 seats.

Meanwhile, the opposition Mahagathbandhan alliance is anticipated to finalize its seat-sharing arrangement in the coming days. The coalition may also present its list of candidates along with a joint manifesto this week.

The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled for two phases on November 6 and November 11, 2025, with the vote counting set for November 14, 2025.
