Mithun Manhas Appointed as New BCCI President

New Delhi: In a significant development, former Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas has been appointed as the new President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This announcement came after the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Mumbai on Sunday, September 28.

Manhas succeeds Roger Binny in this prestigious role. Alongside him, Rajeev Shukla has been elected as Vice President, while Devajit Saikia takes on the position of Secretary. Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has been appointed Joint Secretary, and A. Raghuram Bhat will serve as the Treasurer of the board.

The governance structure of the BCCI has been further reinforced by the election of Jaydev Niranjan Shah as the sole member of the apex council. Additionally, Arun Singh Dhumal and M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar have been inducted into the governing council. Following his appointment, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh publicly congratulated Mithun Manhas via social media.

Profile of Mithun Manhas

Mithun Manhas, 45, is regarded as a prominent figure in Indian domestic cricket. The former all-rounder has played an impressive 157 first-class matches, 130 List A matches, and 91 T20 matches.

Though he did not represent the Indian national team, Manhas was known for his batting prowess and adaptability, capable of spinning the ball and performing wicket-keeping duties when necessary.

In his 157 first-class matches, Manhas accumulated 9,714 runs. In List A matches, he scored 4,126 runs, while his T20 career boasts 1,170 runs. His bowling records include 40 wickets in First-Class cricket, 25 in List A format, and five in T20s. Manhas also participated in the Indian Premier League (IPL), playing for three franchises: Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors India, and Chennai Super Kings.
