NEW DELHI: In anticipation of Dussehra celebrations across Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed state officials to implement strict measures against miscreants and enhance security during the festive period, as per a statement from the UP government reported by ANI.

In light of recent incidents following the “I love Muhammad” controversy in Kanpur, Varanasi, and Moradabad, the Chief Minister has directed police to use video surveillance and social media monitoring to identify potential troublemakers. Immediate legal actions, including filing FIRs and property investigations, are to be initiated.

“Every miscreant should be identified; no one should be spared,” Yogi stated. He emphasized that Dussehra, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil, should be reflected in administrative actions. “Dussehra symbolizes the burning of evil and terror; this is the right time to take action against miscreants,” he added, stressing that measures taken should prevent any future anarchic behavior.

The police have been instructed to conduct surprise inspections of slaughterhouses to ensure compliance with regulations and to maintain law and order during celebrations, particularly at Durga Puja and Ravana Dahan events. The Chief Minister also advised that the height of idols should conform to safety norms and alternative arrangements for immersions should be made to prevent disruptions.

Furthermore, CM Yogi highlighted the importance of stronger measures for women’s safety throughout the festive season, asserting that accountability will be established from local police stations to police response vehicles in incidents involving molestation, chain snatching, and acid attacks. Increased vigilance against impersonators at Garba and Dandiya events is mandated, along with effective implementation of Mission Shakti 5.0. The use of drones for surveillance has also been ordered.

Moreover, the Chief Minister cautioned against the spread of rumors, especially regarding thefts, instructing authorities to take immediate action against those inciting fear. “Arrest the rumour-mongers,” he insisted, while calling for enhanced vigilance from local watchmen. Additionally, he warned against any attempts to provoke caste tensions, urging officials to ensure compliance with state directives throughout the festive period.
