Dubai: The final of the Asia Cup 2025 is poised to be a historic encounter, as Team India faces arch-rivals Pakistan for the first time in 41 years. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian squad has remained undefeated throughout the tournament, registering victories in all five of their matches.

Pakistan secured their place in the final by overcoming Bangladesh in the Super Four phase. While India topped the Super Four standings, Pakistan finished second, achieving two wins against one loss across three matches. Notably, Pakistan’s only losses in this tournament have come at the hands of India, as they fell short in both their group stage and Super Four meetings.

This final marks a significant chapter in the rivalry between India and Pakistan, as they have only faced each other five times in multi-nation tournament finals featuring more than three teams.

Pakistan Secures Final Spot by Defeating Bangladesh

In their Super Four clash, Pakistan and Bangladesh faced off at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 25. After losing the toss, Pakistan batted first, setting a modest target with a total of 135 runs. Mohammad Haris was a standout performer for Pakistan, scoring 31 runs off 23 deliveries, while Mohammad Nawaz contributed 25 runs.

Bangladesh’s response to this target was underwhelming. Opener Parvez Hossain Emon was dismissed without scoring, and Towhid Hridoy managed only five runs. Despite Shamim Hossain’s effort of 30 runs, Bangladesh ultimately fell short, finishing their innings at 124 runs. Pakistan claimed victory by 11 runs, securing their spot in the Asia Cup 2025 final.
