Several Bollywood actors have left the film industry at the height of their careers, while newcomers frequently enter with backup plans in case showbiz does not succeed. One prominent example is Mayoori Kango, who transitioned from a successful acting career to the corporate world.
Kango rose to fame with the celebrated song “Ghar Se Nikalte Hi” from Mahesh Bhatt’s 1996 film Papa Kehte Hai, which featured Anupam Kher and Jugal Hansraj. Before this major break, she showcased her talent in Saeed Akhtar Mirza’s film Naseem, after which Mahesh Bhatt cast her in his project. Throughout her career, she appeared in several films, including Betaabi, Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet, and Badal. In addition to her film work, Kango also featured in television serials such as Dollar Bahu and Karishma: The Miracles of Destiny, where she took on the role of Karisma Kapoor.
In March 2019, Mayoori Kango made a significant career shift by joining Google, where she served as the Head of Industry for Agency Partnerships until August 2024. Following this role, she was promoted to Industry Head for AI, Martech & Media Solutions at the same company, extending her tenure until August 2025.
On August 25, Kango announced her latest career milestone via LinkedIn, where she rejoined Publicis Groupe as part of the global executive leadership team for Publicis Global Delivery (PGD). In her post, she emphasized her excitement about partnering with the PGD Global team to enhance global solutions and services across media, technology, and digital platforms. She expressed particular enthusiasm for harnessing the potential of AI, recognizing its transformative impact on work and creativity.
Kango also noted, “I’ll also be wearing a second hat as CEO for our India Delivery Center, where I’m looking forward to working with our talented teams to push boundaries, innovate, and create meaningful impact for Publicis clients worldwide.”
