KOLKATA: The United States is expected to lift the 25% punitive tariff on India, with a potential resolution anticipated by the end of November, according to Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran. Speaking to members of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, he indicated that an announcement regarding the tariff could come within the next 8 to 10 weeks. He added that there may also be a reduction in the reciprocal tariff from 25% to a possible 15%.

During a separate discussion with the Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce, Nageswaran reiterated his expectation for a resolution by the end of November but clarified that he is not directly involved in the ongoing bilateral negotiations concerning the tariff issue.
