Qatar’s Emir Pledges to Confront Israeli Aggression at Arab-Islamic Summit

Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, condemned Israel’s recent bombing of Doha, labeling the assault as “blatant, treacherous, and cowardly” during his opening speech at the emergency summit of the Arab League and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The attack, which targeted a residence housing Hamas leaders, resulted in the deaths of six individuals and has been described by Qatari officials as state terrorism. Sheikh Tamim asserted that Israel’s actions demonstrate a lack of genuine interest in peace, highlighting the ongoing threats to regional stability, and emphasized Qatar’s commitment to preserving its sovereignty. He pointed to Israel’s rejection of the Arab Peace Initiative, reiterating that acceptance of the proposal would have potentially spared the region from numerous conflicts.
