Franklin India Balanced Advantage Fund, which began in September 2022, has achieved a 13% CAGR over two years, surpassing its benchmark.

Franklin India Balanced Advantage Fund, an open-ended dynamic asset allocation hybrid scheme, has recorded a compounded annual growth rate of 13% over the past two years, in contrast to the 10% growth seen in its benchmark, the NIFTY 50 Hybrid Composite Debt 50:50 Index.

Since its launch in September 2022, the fund has amassed assets totaling ₹2,700 crore.

Investor Returns

A single investment of ₹1 lakh at the fund’s inception would now be worth ₹14.22 lakh, while a monthly SIP of ₹10,000 from the launch would have turned a total investment of ₹3.6 lakh into ₹4.27 lakh by the end of August.

K Rajasa, portfolio manager for the Franklin India Balanced Advantage Fund, noted that the hybrid category has already expanded significantly and is expected to grow further as markets mature and investors become more aware of their risk-return profiles.

“The Balanced Advantage Fund incorporates market valuations into its asset allocation strategy, increasing equity allocation when markets are undervalued and reducing it when they are overvalued, thereby enhancing fund performance,” he stated.

The fund utilizes a proprietary asset allocation model that combines qualitative fundamentals with quantitative valuation metrics to dynamically shift between equity and debt.

When assessing equity allocation, the fund examines NSE 500 trailing price-to-earnings and price-to-book ratios, taking an average for determination.

Furthermore, the fund adopts a flexi-cap strategy within equities, ensuring it captures opportunities across large-cap, mid-cap, and small-cap segments.
