India-Pakistan Asia Cup Match Sparks ‘No Handshake’ Controversy

In a notable incident following the recent Asia Cup 2025 match between India and Pakistan, both teams did not engage in the customary post-match handshakes. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and his teammate Shivam Dube left the field without acknowledging their Pakistani counterparts, who remained on the pitch awaiting the gesture. This lack of interaction was reportedly due to instructions from the match referee, Andy Pycroft, who advised both captains to forgo handshakes, considering the heightened political tension between the two nations. Pakistan’s team manager, Naveed Akram Cheema, formally protested this decision, which resulted in an apology from the match referee.
