With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), the landscape of employment is poised for change, and it is crucial for individuals to acquire new skills, stated Arundhati Bhattacharya, President and CEO of Salesforce (South Asia), on Thursday. She emphasized that AI will facilitate enhanced decision-making through data and minimize human errors.

“Embracing change rather than resisting it is essential,” Bhattacharya remarked.

The former chairperson of SBI also noted that a collaboration between humans and AI can yield significantly higher efficiency and productivity.

“It is far more advantageous to adapt to the change than to fight against it. The job landscape will evolve, leading to improved business outcomes through data utilization, while human errors will decrease,” she stated. “There is an urgent need for individuals to reskill. The real challenge is integrating with the change. Data must be organized and readily accessible,” Bhattacharya mentioned.

AI has undergone a transformative journey, she observed.

“Initially, AI dealt with structured data during its predictive era. The subsequent phase featured language processing, culminating in generative AI. The forthcoming stage will herald the robotic age,” Bhattacharya explained.

Salesforce launched its operations in India in 2005, establishing its first center of excellence in Hyderabad. It has partnered with Bandhan Bank to enhance the efficiency of the private lender’s loan origination systems for housing and commercial financing.

“Salesforce has expanded across six locations in India, generating an annual revenue of USD 1 billion and employing 13,000 individuals. We are experiencing steady growth in India,” she noted.

“West Bengal is emerging as a promising region. Companies here are digitizing to boost efficiency and productivity. There is significant demand arising from Bengal and the eastern region for AI products,” she added.
