Stalin Urges Unified Front Against Delimitation, Invites Parties to Joint Action Committee Meeting

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has urged political leaders from all parties to unite against the Union Government’s suggested delimitation process.

In a message on social media, he shared that he has reached out to Chief Ministers and party leaders from Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Odisha, and Punjab, encouraging them to take a resolute stance against what he describes as an “unjust exercise.”

Stalin has also contacted major political organizations, including the CPI(M), BJP, Congress, Trinamool Congress, AAP, as well as several regional parties like TDP, BRS, and Akali Dal, inviting them to send senior representatives to a Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting set to take place on March 22, 2025, in Chennai.

He characterized the delimitation initiative as a “blatant attack on federalism,” asserting that it unfairly penalizes states that have successfully adopted population control measures by diminishing their representation in Parliament. “We will not permit this democratic injustice,” he emphasized.

The proposed delimitation exercise has raised significant alarm, particularly in southern and eastern states, where stable population growth may lead to a reduction in parliamentary seats.
