Arvind Kejriwal, the convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, faced backlash regarding his extravagant security convoy during his visit to Punjab for Vipassana meditation. Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, and even within AAP expressed their discontent over the usage of a VIP convoy by someone not holding a constitutional position.

BJP leader and Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa accused Arvind Kejriwal of squandering “Punjab’s money,” while AAP MP Swati Maliwal questioned if her party chief considers himself to be greater than “Donald Trump” given the extensive security detail accompanying him in Punjab. Additionally, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari also criticized the AAP leader for his use of a VIP security convoy.

In response to the criticism directed at Arvind Kejriwal regarding his security arrangements, AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar explained that Kejriwal was assigned ‘Z Plus’ category security by the Ministry of Home Affairs due to a perceived threat.

Arvind Kejriwal’s security surpasses Trump’s, says Swati Maliwal

Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal expressed skepticism about the necessity of such an elaborate convoy in Punjab, a place where Kejriwal previously enjoyed significant support.

“Kejriwal ji, who has been critical of VIP culture globally, is now traveling with a security detail larger than that of Donald Trump,” Swati Maliwal remarked in a post on X, sharing a video of Arvind Kejriwal’s convoy.

BJP minister accuses Arvind Kejriwal of squandering ‘Punjab’s money’

In his criticism of Arvind Kejriwal’s “lavish convoy” for Vipassana, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa expressed on X, “His convoy, which includes luxury cars valued at over ₹2 crores, fire brigades, ambulances, and more than 100 commandos, raises questions about what kind of common man he is… Arvind Kejriwal is misusing Punjab’s resources. His true intention is not ‘Vipassana’ but to fulfill his aspiration of becoming a Chief Minister.”

AAP responds to the criticism of Arvind Kejriwal

AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar emphasized that security concerns were the primary reason for Arvind Kejriwal’s convoy. In a discussion with ANI, Kakkar stated that Kejriwal has been granted ‘Z Plus’ category security by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“BJP should refrain from engaging in dirty politics and concentrate on issues relevant to Delhi. Insulting Arvind Kejriwal will not yield any results,” Kakkar asserted on Wednesday.
