Amazon Web Services (AWS), a provider of cloud computing solutions, recently announced a significant investment of $8.2 billion in Maharashtra, planned for the years leading up to 2029-30. This investment aims to enhance the deployment of advanced technology and cloud management solutions in India.

A delegation from AWS, headed by Sandeep Dutta, President for India and South Asia, met with Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, to outline their strategic plans.

During the meeting, Vaishnaw disclosed, “The AWS team presented their proposal, detailing an investment of approximately $8.2 billion in Maharashtra over the next few years. They expressed strong optimism about the growth prospects in India and highlighted their plans to introduce cutting-edge technologies, including the latest graphic processing units (GPUs).”

The company is poised to establish state-of-the-art computing facilities and advanced cloud management services in the region. Vaishnaw further noted, “This investment will also lead to a substantial increase in job opportunities, as AWS plans to create many new positions in India in the upcoming years.”

This move underscores AWS’s commitment to India, where the demand for cloud services is rising sharply due to the expanding digital economy and the increasing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across various sectors.
