On Thursday, the share prices of Bajaj Finserv Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., Zomato Ltd., and Tata Steel Ltd. saw significant gains, emerging as the top performers of the day.

However, on the flip side, shares of UltraTech Cement Ltd., Tata Motors Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., and NTPC Ltd. ended the day as the top losers.

In a volatile session marked by monthly derivatives expiry, the BSE Sensex closed nearly flat. The benchmark index ended marginally higher by 10.31 points or 0.01 per cent at 74,612.43, while the NSE Nifty saw a slight decline of 2.50 points or 0.01 per cent to close at 22,545.05.

Leading the pack of gainers was Bajaj Finserv, with a 2.59 per cent increase to ₹1,924.55. Bajaj Finance followed closely, rising 2.39 per cent to ₹8,695.50. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries also showed positive momentum, gaining 1.63 per cent to close at ₹1,640.00. Zomato and Tata Steel completed the list of top gainers with increases of 1.53 per cent and 1.17 per cent, respectively.

On the other hand, UltraTech Cement suffered the most significant loss of the day, dropping by 4.99 per cent to ₹10,420.65. Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and NTPC also ended the day in the red, closing with losses ranging from 1.00 per cent to 2.05 per cent.

According to Ajit Mishra, SVP of Research at Religare Broking Ltd., the market’s performance reflected indecision in the face of oversold conditions, with the Nifty trading within a narrow range and closing unchanged for the second consecutive session.

Overall, it was a day of mixed performance for the stock market, with some stocks witnessing strong gains while others faced significant losses. Investors will be closely watching future developments to assess market sentiment and potential opportunities for profit.
