Telangana’s Ambitious Goal: A Trillion-Dollar Economy by 2034, Says CM Revanth Reddy

The Telangana government is pursuing the goal of transforming the state into a trillion-dollar economy within the next decade, as stated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. This announcement was made during the opening session of Bio Asia 2025, Telangana’s premier event for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, held on Tuesday.

Reddy highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering institutions centered on research and innovation. He noted that Bio Asia has established Hyderabad as a hub for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. Additionally, the Telangana government has initiated several large-scale projects in Hyderabad, including Future City and AI City. “Hyderabad is also becoming increasingly recognized as the nation’s capital for electric vehicles, boasting the highest sales of such vehicles across India,” the Chief Minister remarked.

The government plans to create a manufacturing hub situated between the Outer Ring Road and the Regional Ring Road, outside the city center. This hub is envisioned to be one of the largest manufacturing centers globally, designed to align with the China Plus One strategy adopted by international firms, Reddy mentioned while encouraging companies to invest in the region.

Hyderabad is poised to become the “world’s best ecosystem” for biosciences, biotechnology, and life sciences. The Chief Minister noted that there are plans to establish it as a center for innovation, research and development, manufacturing, and skills training.

In the previous year, the government successfully attracted over ₹40,000 crore in investment for 150 projects within the life sciences sector. The Green Pharma City, a pivotal initiative under the Future City project, is progressing rapidly, with major pharmaceutical companies having already signed memoranda of understanding with the Telangana government.

Given that Telangana is a landlocked state, the government is also working on plans to establish a mega dry port and enhance rail and road transport facilities to connect with the seaports in Andhra Pradesh.
