Arvind Kejriwal Critiques ‘Fake Surveys’ Amid Delhi Exit Poll Speculations: Questions BJP’s Seat Predictions

Delhi Exit Polls: Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of AAP, strongly criticized the predictions from exit polls on Thursday, deeming them a ‘fake survey.’ The former Chief Minister of Delhi took to the microblogging platform X, accusing that within the last two hours, 16 candidates from AAP received calls suggesting that if they defect from AAP to BJP, they would be appointed as ministers and receive ₹15 crores each.

He questioned, “If his party (BJP) is projected to gain over 55 seats, why is he reaching out to our candidates?”

“Certain agencies are reporting that the abusive party is set to claim more than 55 seats. Clearly, these fake polls are designed solely to create an environment aimed at swaying certain candidates. But you abusive people, not a single one of our members will waver,” Arvind Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi, referring to the BJP as the ‘Gaali-Galoj Party.’

This indicates a possible resurgence for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after a prolonged period, which could potentially end the governance of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Seven out of ten exit polls indicate a clear majority for the BJP, with AAP forecasted to secure between 20-25 seats.

All exit polls predict that the Congress party will secure a maximum of three seats.

Nonetheless, AAP has dismissed these exit poll results, noting that historically, exit polls have undervalued AAP’s performance in Delhi elections and expressed optimism for a favorable outcome.

Multiple agencies have published their exit poll forecasts. Axis My India anticipates a significant victory for the BJP, projecting 45-55 seats for the party, while CNX predicts a higher range of 49-61 seats.

In contrast, AAP is projected to secure between 10-19 seats according to some agencies.

Traditionally, exit polls in Delhi have not always been reliable. While they accurately predicted a hung assembly in 2013, they consistently underestimated AAP’s sweeping victories in 2015 and 2020. In 2020, exit polls estimated an average of 54 seats for AAP, but the party ultimately won 62 seats.
