Voting for the crucial Delhi assembly elections took place on Wednesday, with a voter turnout of 57.85% recorded by 7:15 PM across all 70 constituencies. The final turnout figures are still pending updates.

Approximately 1.56 crore eligible voters participated, casting their ballots at 13,766 polling stations to determine the fate of 699 candidates.

As of 7:15 PM, the North East district experienced the highest voting rate at 63.83%. Other districts reported the following turnout: North West at 58.05%, Shahdara at 61.35%, South at 55.72%, South East at 53.77%, South West at 58.86%, and West at 57.42%.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is aiming for a third consecutive term, relying on its record of governance and various welfare initiatives. In contrast, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are advocating for a change in leadership.

Polling began at 7 AM and concluded at 6 PM, although the Election Commission of India (ECI) will take some time to finalize and publish the overall voting percentage.

Notable candidates in this election include AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, who is contesting from the New Delhi constituency against former BJP MP Parvesh Verma and Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit, the son of former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. Additionally, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is competing against BJP Delhi unit chief Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress’s Alka Lamba. Another closely watched race is in Jangpura, where AAP’s Manish Sisodia faces BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress’s Farhad Suri.
