Voting for the crucial Delhi Assembly elections began on Wednesday, with approximately 19.95% voter turnout reported by 11 am across the 70 constituencies.

Voters are exercising their right at 13,766 polling stations to determine the future of 699 candidates. In total, around 1.56 crore citizens are eligible to vote in the National Capital Territory (NCT).

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is seeking to secure a third consecutive term, leveraging its record on governance and various welfare initiatives. Meanwhile, the BJP and Congress are aiming for a shift in leadership.

Polls opened at 7 am and will close at 6 pm. According to data from the Election Commission, 8.10% of voters had cast their ballots by 9 am.

Notable candidates in the Assembly elections include AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, who is contesting from the New Delhi constituency against former BJP MP Parvesh Verma and Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit, son of the late former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is running against BJP’s Delhi unit chief Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress’s Alka Lamba. Another closely watched race is in Jangpura, where AAP’s Manish Sisodia faces off against BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress’s Farhad Suri.
