One individual lost their life in an explosion at an ordnance factory located in Bhandara district, Maharashtra, on Friday, and search and rescue operations are currently in progress for 10 missing employees, according to police reports.

Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that, based on initial reports, approximately 13 to 14 workers were trapped after a roof collapse in the factory unit following the blast. He expressed his condolences for the deceased individual involved in the incident.

In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Fadnavis mentioned that five individuals had been rescued, and both the district collector and the superintendent of police were present at the scene. A team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Nagpur is also en route to assist with the situation.

District collector Sanjay Kolte confirmed that the explosion took place around 10:30 AM on the factory premises. According to police, the blast occurred in the LTP section of the factory, which is situated in the Jawahar Nagar area. At the time of the explosion, there were 14 workers in that section; three were rescued alive, while one person was confirmed dead.
