With so many fantastic TVs on the market today, there’s a strong possibility that even those not featured in our top choices could be great for you. Here are a few of our favorite models that narrowly missed making the list.

TCL Q6 (2024): This budget-friendly option from TCL showcases some remarkable features for an affordable television, even without advanced local dimming technology. I am particularly impressed with the vibrant colors, especially when viewing modern cinematic masterpieces like Dune and Mad Max Fury Road. Its integrated Google interface simplifies streaming and casting, and TCL has a reputation for producing durable, moderately priced displays, so you can buy with confidence.

Sony Bravia 7: The Bravia 7 (7/10, WIRED Recommends) boasts a stunning display, delivering exceptional brightness, lifelike colors, and smooth finesse in nuanced details. Its main downside is inadequate off-axis viewing, which might be challenging to overlook considering its premium price tag. However, it’s worth a look for those who appreciate that signature Sony brilliance, especially as the company has been more generously discounting its top QLED models compared to its OLED options.

TCL QM7: The elegantly balanced QM7 (6/10, WIRED Reviewed) is kept off our primary list by just one factor: a software issue. During testing, I encountered a problem where altering SDR backlight levels would influence HDR settings, resulting in significant brightness restrictions. Although TCL was able to address this glitch in a firmware update for me, it hasn’t rolled out more widely yet. Most users are unlikely to experience this issue, making the QM7 still a viable choice, with TCL anticipating a major firmware update in December.

Samsung S95C: As long as it’s still in stock, the S95C (8/10, WIRED Recommends) continues to be an excellent selection. This model could even be preferable for those who do not desire the matte screen found on the 2024 version. It remains one of the finest OLED TVs available—especially notable given its great sale prices.

Samsung QN90C: Another possible bargain while supplies last, Samsung’s QN90C (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has long been one of our favorite options for bright rooms. It comes in a variety of sizes and offers a vivid and luminous picture along with a host of appealing features—particularly inviting during major sales.
