Big Mistake: BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht Reacts to Kapil Mishra’s Candidacy

In a notable internal party dispute just before the upcoming Delhi elections, BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht has publicly criticized his party’s decision to nominate Kapil Mishra as their candidate for the Karawal Nagar assembly seat. In statements made to ANI, Bisht expressed his discontent, suggesting that the BJP is overly confident in their hold on the seat, stating that the party seems to think they can win with “anyone from BJP,” which he labeled as a serious error.

Bisht emphasized the importance of ground workers in the electoral process, suggesting that the party will soon realize their value, particularly in several constituencies including Burari, Ghonda, and Seelampur, and indicated uncertainty about the outcomes in these areas due to the party’s decisions.

Despite his grievances, Bisht reaffirmed his commitment to contesting from the Karawal Nagar seat and announced that he would submit his nomination by January 17. He made it clear that he would not seek a reconsideration of the party’s choice and would not accept an alternative seat from the party. Although he expressed dissatisfaction with the BJP, he ruled out any chance of transitioning to the Congress party.

This internal strife arises after the BJP’s recent nomination of Kapil Mishra, a former AAP member, to replace Bisht, who has served as an MLA since 1998, winning elections in 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2020. The party has already announced candidates for 58 of the 70 assembly seats, with voting scheduled for February 5 and results to be counted on February 8. Candidates must submit their nominations by January 17, with verification of these nominations taking place on January 18, and withdrawals permitted until January 20.
